The contacting stroke can be generated in three different ways: stroke-controlled (SAM-H), manually (SAM-M) or pneumatically (SAM-P).

The activation of the stroke-controlled side approach mechanism is achieved by the conversion of the vertical stroke action of the test fixture (activation stroke) into a horizontally-guided stroke action of the stroke bar of the side approach mechanism (contact stroke). The maximum contact stroke is 16 mm with an working stroke of 7 mm.

The activation of the manually operated side approach mechanism is achieved by turning the activation lever approximately 90° in a clockwise direction. The final position of the stroke mechanism is determined by an optionally available proximity switch. After activation the stroke mechanism remains in a stable final position. The activation of the pneumatically operated side approach mechanism is achieved by the addition of compressed air to the stroke cylinder. The final position of the stroke mechanism is determined by an optionally available proximity switch. After switching off the compressed air, the side approach mechanism returns to the home position.

With the side approach mechanism INGUN offers highly versatile function units for the lateral contacting of electronic components which can be individually customized to suit the respective testing requirement.
